Holy Night Teals

Dropping in really quick to share a card I made earlier today (actually it turned out to be a whole set of cards!) to play along with the Colour Me challenge. Super simple- some teal card stocks, teal ink, white sequins, and a few silver pearls and grey rhinestones. No muss to fuss! Hope you've had a fabulous weekend. :)

Merry Christmas Banner {2 ways}

Hey all!
So today I was working on some more Christmas cards! I warned ya you might be seeing a lot of them in the future, hehe ;) I found some Christmas card challenge blogs and got a bit of inspiration from them!

Card 1 was inspired by the July challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown. I chose one of their recipes to work from, and boy, let me tell you, it ended up stumping me! Well really it was the square card that got me. I had the perfect vintage image in mind originally, but it didn't fit on the card base! Whoops! Hehe... details.

So to get the "vintage" part, I settled on muted colors, a vintage-y background paper, and a sentiment from the original vintage Christmas set I'd had in mind. I got partway through making my first iteration of this card and quit, I disliked it THAT much! I was going to work a negative diecut and image into this card originally, but it just was NOT working. I finally settled on the banner and then things finally fell into place :)

Perhaps not the MOST vintage card ever, but I think it works alright! :) I actually ended up making a whole set of these cards!

Card 2 was created because I accidentally made an extra banner from the first card set! I knew I wanted to play along with Merry Monday Christmas Challenge, so sequins it was! This card (unlike the last one!) came about very quickly. I love simple one-layer (minus the sentiment!) cards... definitely where I feel most comfortable. I might make a similar card set tomorrow actually! Digging this layout :)

Christmas Birthday in July

Hey all!
So today I've got not one, not two, but THREE things to share! Crazy, I know ;)

I'm starting off with the card that gave me the most trouble, but ended up being my favorite of the day! I'm out of white cardstock at the moment, so I'm making use of my colored stock for now. I usually prefer white, so it's stretching me out of my comfort zone working with color!

Anyhoo, I struggled with this layout- it turned out completely different than when I started! I started out doing a tone on tone card, both layers being the purple cardstock, but I just couldn't make it work how I imagined. So after a few swap outs of layers and colors, this is what I settled on. And you know what? I love it! I think the kraft really offsets the bright purple color, and the greens play into the more natural earth tones of the kraft too. Papertrey Ink's beautiful images and sentiments made this card a breeze to make... once I settled on a layout that is! So that's card one for today :)

Oh, and here's a close up- you can see I added a touch of colored pencil to the flowers. Love :) Oh, and I'm playing along at the Seize the Birthday challenge under the "anything goes" option!

Here is where we start Christmas in July! I'm aiming toward doing a craft fair in the fall, and I figure if I start making Christmas cards NOW, I might have enough stock to sell well at the fair ;) So you'll likely be seeing a lot of Christmas cards from now until, well, Christmas! So this is the first set that I came up with.

Again, working with the colored cardstock... ironically, this card started out as a one-layer card, then moved to a two-toned two-layer card, and ended up as a tone on tone card! A bit of the reverse of the top card! I kinda like it- I was going for a non-traditional color scheme. Suitable for some of the various holidays around Christmas time.

And I decided to do a matching gift tag set! I think I'll be doing this with most of the sets of cards that I make. Super simple, one layer, image on front, and "to: from:" on back. Easy to whip up a few of these in just a few minutes. The stamps are by PTI and there's a bunch of round images in this set that make for perfect tag making!

Better Birthday Balloons

Yup, I'm back again! Can you believe it? Two days in a row! I know, I know... hehe. Well, today I'm playing along with the colors over at Unity's Stamp Challenge again. The colors are just so perfect for a fun & festive birthday card! I love the bicycle trend (is it over already? is it still going? I can't tell... but I'm loving it either way). So this is a super fun image & sentiment set. I'll probably be making a set or two of cards with this layout- so super simple and fun!

Runway Anniversary Wishes

This was by far my favorite card of the day. Don't be surprised if you see this layout again in the future- I'm digging it! Angles used to throw me for a loop (I like everything neat and tidy and symmetrical), but now I'm liking them! This card combined a Unity sentiment with some PTI images.

Sequined Birthday Balloons

One sketch done two ways! My first take at this sketch, from CAS(E) this Sketch #84, is the card below. I wasn't thrilled with how the tails turned out, so I did take two, shown above! This time I popped up some of the balloons with 3D dots, doubled up the sentiment, and threw in a few sequins. I'm still uncertain how I feel about the recent sequin trend. I feel like rhinestones were more versatile, what do you think? I still have a large stash of them, so you'll continue to see rhinestones here and there, hehe- I just can't quite let go of them :) Oh yes! And before I forget, I was inspired by the colors over at Color Throwdown!

And I'll leave you today with an up close view of the second card :)

Happy Bright Birthday Wishes

It's been a LONG time since I've played along over at the Unity {be inspired} Challenge, so I whipped out one of my favorite kits and inked it up. It's a fun bright color palette this month, which I felt was perfect for a birthday card. I think it could go either way- for boy or girl, what do you think? Here's the original color inspiration... looking at it now, I kinda did a riff on the card sketch too! Really I was just going for the colors though, hehe :)

Happy Non-Traditional Holidays

So I'm hoping to sell at a craft fair in November, so I figure that if I start making Christmas cards now, I might have enough stock to successfully sell! I'm liking the non-traditional colors here- might have to play around with this layout some more! The colors are inspired by ColorQ Challenge #249, which you can see below! I didn't have any costal cabana colors on hand, so I substituted another blue shade.

What do you think? Do you like non-traditional Christmas colors?

New Baby Glow

Hey all!
LONG time no talk, right?! Goodness... well we moved again- yes that makes twice in the past year and a half. Such is the Army life :) So we moved about 6 months ago and I finally JUST unearthed the last scrapping box, so my crafting space (which is pretty fabulous in this house!) is on its way to being organized. I decided to play along with a few challenges, so bear with me as I post a few ;)

I'm not super in love with this card, so don't be surprised if you see this layout again. I think it was just the card dimensions that I'm not loving. I'll have to play around maybe tomorrow and see what I can come up with ;) Anyhoo, I'm playing along over at CASology: Week 103: GLOW. This Unity stamp jumped out at me for two reasons: (1) momma-to-be's always have that "glow" about them, and the moon and stars "glow" in the sky. It works for me :) What do you think??
