Well! I dare say, it's been TOO long since I've been on here! Luckily for me, we have moved on to our next Army post, which means *drum roll, please* my crafting supplies are all out of storage! YAY! (and there was much rejoicing!)
So! What better way to celebrate having craft supply access again than to join in on some challenges! First up, is a card I entered in PaperCraft's January Gallery Challenge over on Flickr- I submitted it about an hour before the deadline last night! Those of you who have been with me a while are not surprised to hear I was cutting things close, right down to the wire, hehe- it's certainly not the first (nor likely last!) time this has happened to me lol. Anyhoo, here's the card (The challenge was "birthday banners").
So how did I make this...? Well, I grabbed my Unity and PTI stamps to create this lil guy. The banners are a Unity stamp. I first stamped it on the background and then again on a smaller white sheet, which I popped up on foam dots. To create the watercolor effect on the popped up piece, I grabbed a few different Memento ink pads, dipped a paintbrush in a little water, swiped the brush across the ink pad, then colored in the images. The less water, the deeper the color that gets transferred onto the paper- like the green and orange colors above. A little more water on your brush will dilute the color, so you get a softer color- like the blue and red above. I inked up a PTI candle image and stamped it in the banner then added the sentiment on an angle, from the same stamp set. Super simple- came together in less than 30 mins (including brainstorm time and unearthing some supplies still in boxes!).
Do you like the recent watercolor effect trend? This is my first time giving it a try, and I must say, I like it! So simple and such a unique effect!
Halfway to the weekend, folks! I'll be back tomorrow with a Moxie Fab challenge card! See ya then :)
