Love Buggin

Hey all!
My mojo is off a bit, but I still wanted to share this little card I made using Unity's Love Bug stamp! I dunno about you, but I'm a bit behind, so I've yet to send out Christmas thank-you cards! {whoops!} This one is for my aunty who's a huge VW bug enthusiast!

I used the colors and rough sketch from the current Unity be inspired Challenge- see below. In person, the shimmery Recollections background paper is a neat soft stone/tan color. I used grey Memento ink, and the other colors are pretty obvious! I thought it'd be fun to add some Recollections gems for the taillights too! At first I left them off, but I think they add a fun pop :) I did some watercoloring to shade in the bug, and to top off the card, I inked up part of the Thank You For Your Service stamp by Unity and stamped it in the license plate- I was so excited when it fit PERFECTLY! On the inside of the card, I stamped the bug and sentiment right after I stamped the original outside image, so it'll be a soft background for my note inside!

Have a fabulous rest of your week, friends! :)

Star Power

Hey all!
Two posts in just as many days? Crazy, I know right?! I told ya I'd be back though :) So today's card comes to you courtesy of  Moxie Fab's Constellations: Trendy Star Power challenge, going on through the end of the month. I don't have any constellation paper or stamps yet (note, yet!) so I made my own constellation... can you find it?

To make this card, I layered a peachy pink paper for the base, topped with a bit of Recollections subtle shimmer dark blue paper, topped with some basic white cardstock. I used 4 Memento inks, and inked up one of my Unity stamps a bunch of times to create the kind of ombre effect of the star background. I grabbed another Unity sentiment that worked just perfect for a star challenge! I hope that as you read down the sentiment, the ombre star effect then draws your eye back up to the top of the card! I added a few gold pearls to act as my constellation- it's the little dipper! Complete with (somewhat) true to size stars... well, rather, I tried to match up the sized pearls with the size of the stars in the constellation! I added a single pearl at the bottom of the popped up sentiment panel to hopefully draw your eye to the pearls on the background piece. Oh, and here's a close up of that subtle shimmer- it's awesome up close in person!!

So that's that. Maybe I'll even be back tomorrow with yet another card this week! Time will tell, hehe!

Happy New Year!

Hi all!
Well! I dare say, it's been TOO long since I've been on here! Luckily for me, we have moved on to our next Army post, which means *drum roll, please* my crafting supplies are all out of storage! YAY! (and there was much rejoicing!)

So! What better way to celebrate having craft supply access again than to join in on some challenges! First up, is a card I entered in PaperCraft's January Gallery Challenge over on Flickr- I submitted it about an hour before the deadline last night! Those of you who have been with me a while are not surprised to hear I was cutting things close, right down to the wire, hehe- it's certainly not the first (nor likely last!) time this has happened to me lol. Anyhoo, here's the card (The challenge was "birthday banners").

So how did I make this...? Well, I grabbed my Unity and PTI stamps to create this lil guy. The banners are a Unity stamp. I first stamped it on the background and then again on a smaller white sheet, which I popped up on foam dots. To create the watercolor effect on the popped up piece, I grabbed a few different Memento ink pads, dipped a paintbrush in a little water, swiped the brush across the ink pad, then colored in the images. The less water, the deeper the color that gets transferred onto the paper- like the green and orange colors above. A little more water on your brush will dilute the color, so you get a softer color- like the blue and red above. I inked up a PTI candle image and stamped it in the banner then added the sentiment on an angle, from the same stamp set. Super simple- came together in less than 30 mins (including brainstorm time and unearthing some supplies still in boxes!).

Do you like the recent watercolor effect trend? This is my first time giving it a try, and I must say, I like it! So simple and such a unique effect!

Halfway to the weekend, folks! I'll be back tomorrow with a Moxie Fab challenge card! See ya then :)

Super Short Update... more to come soon!

Hey there my lovelies :)
For anyone who's still following me out there, just wanted to stop in for a short and sweet update (since it's been like forever and a day since I've stopped in here!)...

For the past year and half-ish, we've been stationed in the middle of Louisiana and most of my crafty supplies never made it out of storage (boo!). However, we've been blessed to move back to civilization last month.

Thus, I shall soon return to the wonderful crafty world soon!
Just gotta finish getting my amazing huge crafty space set up (which is doubling as our playroom/homeschool room/devotional nook).

I canNOT wait to get back here and see you all and share crafty goodness with you all again!
Yays :D

God bless-
