the star

Here's another Christmas card I've been working on with my first set of stamps from PTI! It's clean and simple, keeping the focus more on the sentiment than the embellies. This is one of the themes on Stampin' Sisters in Christ's challenge this week- showing that we need to decrease in order for the Lord to increase. Check out their blog for a wonderful short Bible study on the topic :)

pink packaging

Here's a set I worked on to submit for Embellish Magazine's current bag color challenge. I don't like pink, but I love it when it's combined with black! Pretty much any pastel with black is good to go in my book ;)
I'm also submitting to Verve's "Triple Play." I don't have any Christmas Verve stamps yet, so I had to be a bit creative, but I did get utilize a few of their stamps! :) On this card I used some of their swirls to make a background for the tag and the sentiment is also Verve!

.:. materials .:. {PP} American Crafts, Recollections, making memories, my stash, {stamps} Verve, {inks} Memento, stampology, {ribbon} from Michaels, {gems} Recollections, {button} my stash, {charm} from Michaels, {border} making memories, {punches} Fiskars, {floss} DMC

.:. materials .:. {PP} American Crafts, Recollections, making memories, my stash, {stamps} PTI, {inks} Memento, {ribbon} from Michaels, {gems} Recollections, {button} my stash, {charm} from Michaels, {border} making memories, {punches} Fiskars, Martha Stewart, {floss} DMC

This last package uses the "reindeer baglet" shown on Project Tuesday. The grey braided rope is actually from a VS bag, so it works double well for the Embellish Mag challenge! This tag features another Verve stamp used for the background (it's kinda hard to see in the photos) and the frame stamp is also Verve :)

.:. materials .:. {PP} American Crafts, Recollections, making memories, my stash, {stamps} Verve, PTI, {inks} Memento, {ribbon} from Michaels, {gems} Recollections, {buttons} my stash, {charm} from Michaels, {border} making memories, {punches} Fiskars, {floss} DMC, {clip} my stash

.:. Challenges .:.
Embellish Magazine- bags & color combo
Verve- Triple Play project parade

HB olivey

So I really like this card :) I wish I had some better alphas since they kind of blend in with chipboard tag, but in person the letters do pop a bit more! I need to get some more of these chipboard frames because I'd love to make some more of these cards... now if only I knew where this frame was from!

.:. challenges .:.
EIC #114- love the gems on this bracelet from Happy Day Designs, that olivey green is the perfect pop of color for the card :)

.:. materials .:. {DP} Bazzill Basics, {inks} Stazon, stampcraft, {stamps} Unity, SU!, {embellies} making memories alpha stickers, chipboard and eyelets from stash

give thanks

Fall is such a pretty time of year- leaves changing bright colors, the smell of falling leaves, the crisp breeze, time to break out the warm cozy blankets and hot chocolate. I love a little something about every season! It's also the season for giving thanks, heck, there's a whole holiday devoted to it! Year round, I am thankful for all the blessings the Lord has bestowed on us :) Anyways, here's a lil card devoted to giving thanks :)

.:. challenges .:.

.: materials .:. {PP} making memories, {stamp} The Petal Press, {twine} Westrim Crafts, {raffia} Creatively Green, {embellies} Recollections gems, leaves & button from my stash

masculine birthday

So I'm pretty happy with the final outcome of this card, but it came about in a very scattered way. So I knew I wanted to do a masculine birthday card, because my inventory was scarce in the "masculine" department. So I got my general color palette together, but I wasn't quite sure where to go from there... I haven't played along with 2S4Y in a while, so I used Kazan's wonderful sketch 66... but I was still a bit stuck. To make a long story short(er), I ripped the grey paper, so I used the border punch to cover it up, the punched leaves were redone using about 3 different PP's before settling on this one, and the "birthday wishes" were originally supposed to be in straight lines, but I gave up and made them more random. In the end, it was a very layered version of the sketch, and I think it's a card my dad or brother would be happy to receive, so it's all good! :)

.:. materials .:. {PP} SU!, {ink} Stazon, {stamp} SU!, {embellies} Martha Stewart leaf punch, Recollections pearls, swirl diecut from swap, EK Success corner punch, SU! notebook edge punch

variation on a snow theme

Three cards- one idea! So these three cards all started out with the same idea in mind, but I had a few "tangents" shall we say and I ended up making a few similar LOs in the end. Gotta get goin to a luncheon- be back later to add materials and challenges :D

09 November 2010

scootin and rockin

just wanted to share two quick cards that use a red, yellow, blue theme, with a touch of black accent on the jukebox card! Both use Unity's awesome stamps from their KOM :) The inside of the Jukebox card says "you rocked it!" for a great "encouragement" or "congrats" card. The inside of the Scooter card says "I love you." Can never go wrong with an I Love You card, hehe ;) I'm playing along with TPE's #87 {the above color combo}.

DIY autumn decor

Check out some more autumn decor from around our home {including DIY tips!} I've posted over on my homemaking blog: His Frugal Servant

cardinal snow

This card holds a bit of a special place in my heart... it might actually become the Christmas cards we give out to our family this year, but the one below is part of a set of them I made for an upcoming craft fair...

Growing up, our backyard was a small forest. I love how the bright red cardinals stand out against the white snow in the winter :) Brings back fond memories! I think I'm finally starting to find my "style" as a card maker, and CAS is definitely it! Hehe- this card is probably a perfect example of that!

I started out with the great JustRite stamp, did a little coloring with good ol' colored pencils and some markers and gems for the berries, topped it off with a little embossing powder that I left dry to act as soft glittery snow :) <-- click on the photo, you can see the snow much better!

.: Challenges :.
Pile It On #44- winter animals {cardinal}
MMSC78- sketch {on the page, the sketch to the right}
SSCC#64- weather {snow on the roof}

.:. materials :. {paper} Georgia-Pacific, {stamp} JustRite, {ink} Stazon, {coloring} Crayola colored pencils, Staedtler marker, {embellies} Recollections gems, Stampendous embossing powder

Simple Plants

So here's another set of cards that I made for my MIL. She loves plants and flowers, so I chose some of the Verve stamps to use for this- I also stamped a single green plant on the inside of the cards.

I'm back, baby!

Hey there ya'll!
Well, I'm back! Thanks for being patient as I took a short leave of absence from the blogger world :) I have a slew of cards to share with you, so let's dive right in :D

This is a card from a set of 10 that I made for my MIL. I made 5 designs, two of each. It's been a while since I've played along with some of the awesome challenge blogs, so here we go!

.: challenges :.
EIC #112:: Headed over to BeiLeXian's shop on Etsy and found this adorable print (see left)! I used the colors for my card, and even the dots in the grass are echoed in the dots on my tree's trunk! BeiLeXian has a variety of tree-themed prints in her shop too- go check her out!

EBTKS #26- Teal is my favorite color, so I do like to use it a lot- even my scraproom is teal! So it worked out perfectly that this is also the color combo on EBTKS!

.: materials :.
{stamp} Unity, {ink} Stazon, {PP} Creative Memories, {twine} Martha Stewart, {gems} Recollections, {punch} Martha Stewart
