Thankful for friends of Faith blog hop

12 Jan EDIT: linked up as part of TipJunkie's show & tell our favorite projects we did in 2009!

Welcome to Scrapbook News and Review Magazine's A Faith Perspective Thanful for Friends Faith Blog Hop. Today, we're out in force on the internet -- showing our faith and giving the glory to God. United, we stand as Christian paper crafters and blow owners to make a presence on the internet for all to see. We're celebrating the theme of friends and we're happy to share our projects with based on the verse:

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. " Ecc4:9-10a

And now the deets of my project...

I wanted to share with you an Advent calendar that I made for my husband. He is currently serving our country overseas, so he won't be home for Christmas this year. Christmas is such a special time isn't it? The birth of our Saviour Lord Jesus! Really, what better and more joyous time of year is there? It will be a bittersweet Christmas without him, but He truly makes the deployment separation easier. Praise God! :)

There were obviously a lot of supplies, hehe, so if you have any questions, just leave them in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to you ASAP :)

UPDATE: I've been getting a few questions, so figured I'd update this a touch, hehe. The basic supplies were a styrafoam circle covered in fabric, adhered with hot glue. The tins are by Wilton and run ~$20 for a bucket of 30 at Michaels. Again, the tins were also attached with hot glue! I used my nestabilities to cut out the circles adhered to many of the tins' covers. Most of the DP is from a DCWV stack from JoAnns, and many of the stickers and rub-ons are from Michaels by K&Co and Pooch & Sweetheart {$1 bin}. You can't see it well, but around the outside rim of the base runs a strip of dark green ribbon, I think from the clearance bin at Michaels.

Also, this project works so well with Verve's Home for the Holidays project parade :)
EDIT: well this waaaas for Verve's project parade, but now it's out for publication :D check back later in the year for photos!

The next stop on this blog hop is: Maria Matter.

Thanks so much for taking the time to let me share with you. Enjoy the rest of your hop! God bless :)

pillow boxes

some pillow boxes using the great Cutting Café template :)

embellish owl

{check out this photo in my Flickr photostream, blogger washes out photos so badly sometimes}

so it took me a while {nothing like last minute} but when I saw the Embellish Magazine challenge with an owl, I knew I had to use the sentiment from Unity KOTM. this will be going to my DH overseas :)

.: materials :.
{paper} Bazzill, DCWV, the paper company
{stamp} Unity
{ink} rubber stampede
{gems} michaels
{ribbon} offray

thinking of you flower

here's a cute card that I used some pebbles stickers on. I also made two matching cards with smaller flowers and chocolate backgrounds... I had been itching to use these stickers I got in a blog candy, and after viewing Jared in Kansas' shop with all the lovely floral photos {this week's EtsyInspired Challenge shop!} I was feeling inspired, hehe, and whipped out the stickers to craft this card!

some ornaments for the craft fair saturday! digi stamps are by Cutting Café and the red one is JustRite

UPDATE: December 2012
These are so super easy to make, and could be a great craft for the kiddos to participate in as well (with supervision for the hot glue)!

Empty ribbon rolls
Stickers, gems, other decorations
Hot glue

(1) Print out any digital stamps onto cardstock, or ink up some traditional stamps.
(2) Cut out stamps and cardstock into circles, or any other desired shape.
(3) Decorate with stickers, gems, or any other decorations of your choice.
(4) Adhere the cardstock to the front and back of the empty ribbon roll.
(5) Adhere large loop of ribbon to edge of ribbon roll- this will be used to hang ornament.
(6) Adhere ribbon around the edge of the ribbon roll using hot glue, making loops as you go.

thank you for your service

today is Veteran's Day here in the United States. a huge thank-you goes out to all of those who have, are, and will serve our country, and especially to those who have given their lives to defend our freedom. although it is truly wonderful that we have a holiday to commemorate those who serve in our armed forces, everyday we should be giving thanks to those who put their lives on the line so that we may have the freedom and liberties that we enjoy in the U S of A. So thank you, to all the veterans and military families. I salute you.

here are two thank-you cards with a patriotic flair. although these two in particular will be sold at the craft fair this weekend, which is being held on our military post, I'll be making some more of these to send to the men in my husband's platoon. Also submitting this to:
caardvark's "round card with pizazz" challenge
Stamping Sisters in Christ "hero" challenge
TPE "be thankful" challenge

more tags and card sets

fun lil set of tags with santa cut outs and a lone polar bear :) we don't celebrate with "santa" in our household, choosing instead to focus on the Reason for the Season- our Lord Christ Jesus' birth! That's our preference, so I figured some other home can better appreciate these lil santas :) this set will be at the craft fair this weekend! Also the card sets below are all packaged and ready to go!

snow bears

how incredibly cute are these polar bears?! oh, I am totally loving this digi set by Lili of the Valley- must. order. more! I made a set of cards with these including the other images in the set. The Inkadinkado stamps work perfectly- the happy holidays sentiment and the light blue snow in the background :)
including this in:
Digital Tuesday's "holiday wishes" theme
Cupcake Craft's "snow much fun" theme

here's some ATCs that wouldn't post to SCS for some reason... *shruggs*

Words To Remember

more Christmas cards

a few sets all packaged and ready to be displayed at the craft fair :)

more Christmas tags

more rapid-fire posts today... craft fair is three days away and I have a lot more cards and such to make!!

cutie pa-pumpkins

so i got this idea from Carol on the Midnight Maddness blog. Altered it a bit, and the lil girl down the street who I teach crafts to, her and her mom and our friend and I all made them for craft time this week! Our friend is her piano teacher, I'm the craft teacher, and her mom is well mom! Hehe. So my friend made the base of the front left pumpkin, and I made the base of the back right pumpkin {it alternates darker and lighter orange shades} and then I made both the stems and curlies. Ok, and I just realized now that the green stems and such don't show up well against the green background- sorry! All paper is DCWV. I made the curlies by cutting the paper really thin using my craft knife and then wrapping them around a bamboo skewer!

Christmas sets

These cards may look familiar, and that's because they are! I made them a while back, but now I've made them into a set. At the craft fair I'll be selling them in sets of 5, but both of these are currently a set of 10 {which I'll break up into two}.

Christmas tags

hey all! so yesterday I did a bunch of Christmas tags. Some aren't quite done {need to add some eyelets!} but the rest are shown below :) Stamps are all Cutting Café and Inkadinkado.

04 November 2009

Ok, so it's not exactly my desk, but I took a photo of all my Christmas crafting stuff that I have laid out on the bed {since our guest bedroom is also my craft room! or rather my craft room is also the guest bedroom.. ;) } so I decided to add my link to What's on your desk Wednesdays! As most of you know, I'm in full swing gearing up for a craft fair next weekend, so that's why all of my Christmas inspiration is laid out all at once! I'm doing mostly Christmas stuff, along with military-themed "I miss you" and "I love you" and "hero" stuff, and some Thank Yous and Happy Birthdays, along with some Thanksgiving stuff and of course the all occasion "Hi" type stuff :) So it's a lotta "stuff" haha :P

thanksgiving tree

so this tree was inspired by the tree to the right. it's from this week's EtsyInspired #60 shop: Vivikas. I grabbed the colors from this week's 2RedBananas challenge, combined that with The Cuttlebug Spot's theme, and voila! A card was born :) The leaf was cut and embossed using a Cuttlebug die and then folder- click on the photo to see it better! I added a little distressing/sanding to the trunk- it looks better in person though.

thanksgiving glitter

ok ladies, so today is some rapid-fire posting! :D I'm cleaning off my memory card, and on top of that I've been in high-production mode for gearing up for this craft fair at the end of next week... with a goal of 500+ cards, we'll see if I make it ;) I'm at like 35 now :P

again, here's more of the martha stewart kit glitter + chipboardish pieces... see previous post for Christmas themed cards with the same type of supplies :) It's really hard to see the Inkadinkado swirls in the photos, they're definitely darker in person, but look at the upper right and bottom left corners closely to see! Clicking on the photo will bring up a larger view where you can also see it better.

.: materials :. {cardstock} bazzill, {stamps} the petal press, inkadinkado, {inks} memento, stampology, {gems} michaels, {other} martha stewart glitter and embellishments

so although I don't like walmart, I headed there to develop some honeymoon photos for scrapping {yes, that means you'll see some scrapping from me soon! probably after next week though, hehe} and so I checked out their scrapbook section because I noticed they do have good prices, especially on the over-priced martha stewart crafting supplies ;) so they had this lil card-making kit on clearance for $5: 8 pre-folded cards, four tubes of glitter, and an assortment of double-sided self-adhesive chipboardish pieces. what a steal?! anyways, these two cards are what I came up with, along with the next post of Thanksgiving themed cards! I've submitted these for Our Daily Bread's challenge too :) You have to check out their new releases- simply gorgeous.

Pastor appreciation

this was a commissioned card for my MIL's church. it's a Pastor appreciation card {last month was Pastor Appreciation Month! even though everyday should be Pastor Appreciation Day hehe}. it was my first time getting to use Creatively Green products, and they're wonderful! The green papers are their 100% recycled cardstock.

so my MIL wanted a gold apple inside a silver frame, since that's what the verse she chose spoke about: "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." Proverbs 25:11 (KJV) The writing behind the main picture frame is actually the whole verse of Proverbs 25.

thankful for friends of Faith blog hop

I'll be participating in A Faith Perspective's Thankful for Friends of Faith blog hop, happening on 14 November! So be sure to stop by and join in! :D

thank you's and retirement

these cards I whipped up yesterday for my mom! her and my dad were up for the weekend- always lovely so see them :) Two thank-you cards and a retirement card {they don't really have Retirement stamp sets much... so I used a "best wishes" sentiment on the inside! hehe} Also got a chance to use the new Hero Arts clings {flower stamp} and love 'em! The retirement card is for Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge.
