Child Masculine

Materials- Paper: Colorbök (red), The Paper Company (bkgd), Best Occasions (grey), Gems: Michaels, Sentiment: JoAnn

This card was inspired by Seth. He is a 12yro boy, an only child, who has leukemia and is struggling for his life. As part of the blog hop at Stamptacular, Nikki's giving away some blog candy with the incentive to Make a Child Smile. This is the second child I chose. The sketch is from Limelight's challenge this week, which also calls for using up those patterned paper scraps! Besides the background paper, the rest were indeed from the ever-growing scrap stash (along with the stickers) :) It also follows the "masculine" theme from Gina K's May challenge #1 over on SCS.

UPDATE: Last night, God called Seth Home. I will be making another card for his parents to know that others are praying for their family. I'll also send this card to another child on the site instead.

Child Mermaid

Materials- Paper: Creating Keepsakes, The Paper Company, Characters: Colorforms, Ink: Martha Stewart, Sentiment: JoAnn

This card was inspired by Alexa. She is an 11yro girl who loves Disney and has reoccurring cancer. As part of the blog hop at Stamptacular, Nikki's giving away some blog candy with the incentive to Make a Child Smile. This is the first child I chose, another card will be coming next post! The sketch is TPE Challenge 16. You can also kinda see the sponging along the edge of the green pieces and the blue semi-circle! It just so happens that Sponging is the name of the game over at Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday this week :)

Matching Hearts

Wow, so SheetLoad of Cards is celebrating! This is their "Show Us Your SheetLoad" challenge, to make a square (4.25") and scrapling (1.25" x 4.25") set. It was actually pretty fun! There's some great inspiration cards for this challenge over at the blog! The layout are the two sketches this week from 2Sketches4You (there's a bonus sketch this week!).

Materials- Paper: my stash, Ribbon: Offray, Gems: Michaels, Buttons: Dress It Up, Emboss: CB Spots & Dots, Sentiment: DCWV, Decorative Edge: makingmemories, Ink: Staedtler

Flowers to Notes

So I took out this music punch yesterday and really wanted to use it again. I got the idea of flowers turning into music notes and put it to paper! I'm quite pleased with the way it came out. It has kind of a grunge or rough feel, even through it's flowers, and it's inspired by the below tissue holder from Bacon Square Farm- this week's Etsy Inspired shop. The color scheme also came from TSG's monthly challenge- black, white, and ONE other color (in my case, red)! They're having a release party tonite, you should join! :)

Materials- Paper: Colorbök, Premium Stacks, Stamp: heidi grace designs, Inks: Brilliance, stampcraft, Sentiment: JoAnn, Ribbon: Offray, Punch: EK Success Music Note Paper Shapers

Birdhouse Mini

Here's another chance to use up some of my scraps. This mini card was created using the birdhouse below, from the Etsy shop Bacon Square Farm, as inspiration. It's the Etsy Inspired challenge for this week! My husband and I are watching LOTR, so I threw this together quickly as we began the movie :) The layout is this week's CPS sketch.

Tiny Twenty-One

My cousin turns 21 next month, and this is a birthday card for her. It's a tiny card, and I wasn't sure how all the challenges would fit together, but I'm quite pleased with the way this card turned out :) Gina K May Challenge #3 is to make an ATC (sizes are 3.5 x 2.5). I actually really liked working with this size... I might try it more often! The layout is Sweet Stop Saturday Sketch #5. There's also a challenge going on at Triple the Scraps to use a punch. I got this music note thumb punch years ago- it's an EK Success Music Note Paper Shapers. I included both links because I believe it's actually discontinued, or not part of their current line at least. Over at Cupcake Craft Challenges, this week is Challenge 41: 2-2-2, using 2 colors (and neutral), 2 shapes, and 2 ribbons (and embellishments).

My 2-2-2 breakdown...
Colors: pinks and yellows
Shapes: circles and music notes
Ribbons: sheer and white

Materials- Paper: Gartner Studios, Stamp: Inkadinkado, Ink: Martha Stewart, Emboss: CB Spots & Dots, Brads: Recollections, Ribbons: Offray, Punch: EK Success Music Note Paper Shapers

Bright Birthday

This card is for my lil' 5-year cousin (well she'll be 5 next month). But she is really 5 going on 30! She loves dress up, is a total girly girl, and I think this card is so Her :) I just had fun with the girly colors and bright colors- perfect for a 5 year old in my opinion, hehe. This card fold is new for me- went with the "more than one fold" which is Challenge 8 over at Truly Scrumptious. The sketch on the front flat is from this week's Cupcake Challenge (TECC69) over at TE. Her name is Shannon, and you can see the cute little monogram on the second page. Monograms is the challenge of the week over at Cuttlebug Challenges (the last challenge in the super May giveaway!). You might note the various flowers, both the cute fabric ones, the embossing, and on the "S" and "5," and May Flowers is the challenge of the week at 2RedBananas. Gina K Challenge #2 over at SCS is to "make a card for a child to show them you love them..." well I do believe this fits that as well! :)

Sun-basil-set

Here's my last minute entry for the Etsy Inspired post! :) Luckily there were photos on the post since the inspiring shop Sunbasilgarden is closed temporarily! So I combined the full flower with the colors from the flower head (see below)! This is one notecard that I'm going to turn into a set to giveaway at the Spouses Coffee I'm hosting in July! It also works with the Allsorts challenge this week- no stamped image!

Make a Wish

Here's a nice lil' birthday card I'll be sending out to my aunt next month. It's a take on the sketch over at Stamp Something and using the colors from Stamper's Dream. I know my colors are slightly off, which means I need to go get more cardstock! Oh darn ;) Their challenge also called for "bling and texture," so I got to use my first new Cuttlebug folder!

5 Months

So today is my 5 month anniversary! Married to the love of my life, best friend, and blessed beyond description. Our God is ever gracious! Made this for the hubby. The layout came from the Fresh Batch (SASSC16), with the color challenge from Raspberry Suite. And again, it fits the challenge for today over at 365 today- anniversary or engagement! I also got the "pear" idea from Kristie's card posted there.

Anniversary Trees

Here's an anniversary card I've made for my aunt and uncle. It's a little late for kwernerdesign, but that's the Color Inspiration (#53)- black, red, pacific blue, sun yellow, and white. The layout is from Sweet Sunday (SSSCSOA), essentially flipped upside down. And to top it off, it fits a 365 theme today- anniversary or engagement!

Fly Away Hearts

So in case you haven't heard, Cuttlebug Challenges is doing a month-long prize giveaway for some amazing prizes! Go check 'em out for further details. The Be Inspired post over there this week is butterflies and hearts. So that's the theme of this card, with the color scheme (lavender, olive, eggplant) coming from Color Throwdown. This notecard set is going to be a giveaway at the next Spouses Coffee, which I'm hosting!

(same card, new photo since original post)

Monogram Baby Bookmarks

So the theme over at The Pink Elephant this week is "Monograms." Here are the results! :)
Two of my close friends are expecting their first baby! They don't plan on finding out the sketch, and their last name begins with "O," so these are some cute little bookmarks I created for them. Although I missed the deadline for entry, the project idea came from Project Tuesday. Great chance to use up some scraps. I'm gonna add on some ribbon details once they're all dried :)

Supplies- Brads: Recollections, Ribbon: Offray, Rub-ons: K&Co, Sticker: Marjolein Bastin

Sandy Thank You

So today is my birthday *yays* and I decided to spend the day making cards :) This card's colors remind me of the beach... So, my grandmother sent me a gracious gift, and here's the Thank You card I've created for her. The sketch is from this week's Cupcake Challenge #40 and the color scheme came from kwernerdesign's Color Inspiration #52- Baja/Aqua, Saffron, Mustard, Sand, and White.

Materials- Stamps: K&Co, Rubber Stampede, Inkadinkado, Ink: Martha Stewart, Buttons: Dress It Up, Floss: DMC

Black n White n Sweet all over

Well I was very excited how this card turned out! I'm usually pretty wary about using bold colors and about using black, but together they complimented each other and I was pleasantly surprised :) This is probably the quickest card that's ever come together for me! The sketch is from Inspirational Card Sketches #17 and the theme is that of "Sweets" which is the theme for the first challenge over at the new Allsorts Challenge Blog! Go check them out :)

Running Line Circles

So here's another Thank You card that I'm adding to my Mother's card set I'm gifting her. It's based on the Clean & Simple Thank-You challenge over at Stamp Something. One of their DT's, Lauren, is leaving, and this card is based on her general crafting style. I noticed she uses a lot of simple layers, often different color papers but not too many patterned papers, so that's what I based my card on. I also realized that I need to get some small font alphabet stamps! The sketch is CardPatterns #15.

Supplies- Brads: makingMemories, Ribbon: Offray, Paper: Me & My Big Idea, Nicole, Letters: DCWV

Shabby Thanks

So this was another fun combination of challenges. I actually didn't intend to combine these, but as the card came together, I realized it fit all of them to a T! :) The sketch is from I Heart to Stamp- Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT). The color challenge comes from Our Creative Corner- Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue along with a neutral color. And over at Stamp With Fun, the theme for the week is "Shabby/Vintage." I went the more "shabby" route, pastels and whimsy, kinda in the Martha Stewart tradition. It was a fun card to make and use up scraps :)

Asian Flare

So tomorrow is my birthday, and my Grandpa sent me an early birthday gift- an Army scrapbook! :) I'm super excited, hehe. This card's sketch is from Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #68 (TECC68) and the color scheme is from Raspberry Suite Color Challenge - Week 6. Two awesome challenges and I'm pleased with the way it came out :)
